ALEXANDRA TORRE

Practical. Beautiful. Comfortable. A always a dash of the unexpected. These concepts are the cornerstones of Alexandra Torre’s approach to design and interior decorating.

Alexandra Torre is a globe-trotting native San Franciscan who began honing her aesthetic tastes at an early age. The granddaughter and grandniece of San Francisco designers, Alexandra grew up in sophisticated, beautiful and eclectic surroundings. She absorbed how color, scale and texture work together to create beauty and harmony in a space. She learned to appreciate classic lines and fine antiques.

An avid traveller, Alexandra has harnessed every opportunity to expose herself to the local architecture, crafts and art and incorporate these into her projects. Now living in Dubai, Alexandra believes it’s essential to consider not only the cultural backgrounds of her clients but also the other countries where they have lived in order to weave all of this history and life-experience into their projects.

After running her own design business in San Francisco, California since 2002, Alexandra moved to Moscow in 2014 and started curating art from young, emerging Russian artists. "I found many expats were fascinated by local art and had a strong desire to collect, but they were uncertain about trying to fit contemporary art into their homes." So she organized Pop-Up Exhibits in her apartment, with 4-6 different artists at a time, to demonstrate how different genres of art could work together in a residential setting.

Fusing her passion for art and years of design experience, Alexandra helps clients find pieces that augment both their personality and creative aesthetic in their homes.

PHILOSOPHY

Nothing is in good taste unless it suits the way you live. What's practical is beautiful...and suitability always overrules fashion.” Legendary American decorator, Billy Baldwin.

"My design inspiration begins with my clients and their lifestyle. From there, I develop ideas, designs and ultimately a space that reflects their personal style. Whether artful & elegant, sleek and modern or fresh and bold, design must also be comfortable and practical.  I see my job as fusing these essential elements together."

When it comes to sourcing art for clients, Alexandra recognizes it’s often difficult to define exactly what type of a piece or point to a specific style or artist. Knowing the galleries and studios and capturing the early talent, Alexandra absorbs each client’s style and surroundings to help find that piece that speaks directly to them.
